Never been up that way before but it gives you a good view of the Mersey and Helsby Hill (commonly known as "the one that sticks out" - cos it does stick out and it's the one you always see when you're on the M56.
The hill is part of the Cheshire Sandstone Trail (and guess what - it is mostly sandstone) and a lot of it is through the woods with sandstone outcrops and lots of easy climbing bits.
