I was doing the usual distract yourself from anything serious stuff, when I came across a website called "Booking Through Thursday". (I was actually looking for writing related info not for hotels!). Anyway, it's a site that sets a writing challenge to the world (on a Thursday) to respond to in either their own blogs or through the comments. It's easier if you read the next bit which is copy from their site instructions:
To Participate
Copy the questions, paste them into your blog and answer them.
When you're done, come back here and post a quick comment or trackback letting everyone know so we can read your responses. Be sure to leave a link to your actual post! (Just type in the web-address--Wordpress will automatically turn it into a link for you.)
If you don't have a blog yet, then just post your answers in the Comments area for the set of questions you are responding to.
Lastly, no, you do NOT have to answer on Thursdays. Please feel free to answer any time you want, we're just glad to have you.
As an example this week's challenge is:
Pick up the nearest book. (I’m sure you must have one nearby.)
Turn to page 123.
What is the first sentence on the page?
The last sentence on the page?
Now . . . connect them together….(And no, you may not transcribe the entire page of the book–that’s cheating!)
Simple as that. The site is set up so that you can see the comments with the links under the questions.
What's even greater is that if you then go off to read the results you end up at the blog of someone else with an interest in writing.
Oh and of course it's good writing practice!
Here's the link and it'll be in my favourites in the panel on the right side of the blog also.
